Before moving to Paris, he painted the rural life around him and began experimenting with colours and techniques inspired by the artistic movement of the time, Impressionism. Van Gogh brought his work to life by his bold use of colour, dramatic brushstrokes, and the impasto technique&mdash; applying thick paint in rough strokes to create depth, emotion, and movement. Considering the short time he was active as a painter, Van Gogh was exceptionally prolific as he created over 800 paintings and 1,100 drawings in just one decade.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.koktailmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/8d8dd6457fac4c904bb74513757af2a6.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"\" target=\"_blank\" >Photo: Courtesy of Van Gogh Museum\/Facebook (Field with Irises near Arles, Vincent van Gogh, May 1888)<\/a> <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">With over 200 paintings, 500 drawings, and more than 700 letters, the Van Gogh Museum\u202fin Amsterdam celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2023, together with Montblanc.
