As the world changes many conservatives are attempting to hold on to traditions. But not artist AdisakJirasakkasem, who has a more pragmatic view and believes that traditions will become irrelevant unless they move with the times, which is why his work features a blend of the old and new. Late in 2015 he and partner Supakorn Buaruan established IWANNABANGKOK©, a unique project to present the city in a novel and cheeky light. Bringing together young creative minds through activities such as ORGY (Our Revolution for Greater Youth) and online platforms, IWANNABANGKOK© is representing a new generation through a radical new lens which is trained on the future. Even though the brand often expresses itself through outré fashion shoots and merchandise, the core of it is culturally egalitarian—much like Tom of Finland and Hello Kitty, brands Adisak admires.
