7 Must-Visit National Parks in Thailand and How to Explore Them
Escape Bangkok for Thailand’s 7 best national parks. Discover wildlife, culture and ...
Wong Kar-wai lovers and Bangkok cinephiles, rejoice! House Samyan is bringing five classic Wong Kar-wai movies lensed by Christopher Doyle back to the big screen, timing the retrospective with the release of Pen-ek Ratanaruang’s new film Krua Sao (Morte Cucina), which was also shot by the acclaimed cinematographer.
Doyle’s visual style has evolved, but he is forever tied to Wong’s signature mood: using low frame rates and duplicated frames to create that blurry look. The techniques act as shorthand for Wong’s world, where characters are suspended in their own heartbreak while the rest of Hong Kong rushes past.
Happy Together (1997)
2046 (2004)
In the Mood for Love (2000)
Chungking Express (1994)
Fallen Angels (1995)
Grab your tickets before the sessions fill up. Wong Kar-wai’s Bangkok following is incredibly loyal, always turning up to experience his films in a theatre no matter how many times they have seen them. Check the House Samyan website for the schedule and their Facebook for updates.
