The Yellowtail Sushi Bar or YTSB, can be found within the confines of the boutique Vie Hotel, but reached, via a separate entrance. Once inside, this feels like, an in-dependent Japanese restaurant. A long sushi counter or table seating are the options, the decor attractively themed, with lots of vibrant colours and rustic wooden tables, with screens, to ensure a little privacy or intimacy. Choose from an a la carte menu on ipad with helpful photos or go omakase, leaving it all up to the chef. From the comprehensive offering of sashimi and sushi, choose a selection that delight you, be it hamachi, salmon, chu toro or the fatty, otoro. Produce is air-flown daily, so you can be assured of its freshness. There are also premium options of uni and akagai, respectively, sea urchin and ark shell clam or blood clam, both delicacies, the former more commonly seen. Continue with a choice of main courses including Miyazaki wagyu udon or soba noodles in soy sauce or a tempting hamachi kama yaki. Dessert-wise, opt for a kori azuki, or traditional Japanese kakigori, a small mountain of shaved ice with matcha green tea syrup and cascading red bean, mochi, fruits and ice cream. The wine list is short and simple, however the route to go here is sake, umeshu or shochu.
Take some time to peruse the stylish and informative sake menu, a map indicating origin, tasting notes for each, ensuring you will make the right choice.
