Located in a small retail and restaurant complex in the somewhat hip Chula neighbourhood, Yoong Khao Hom stands out, offering southern Thai cuisine. The restaurant is simply furnished in light woods, with vivid floral print cushions, elevating both the ambience and comfort. A small number of banquette booths make for cosy dining. The comprehensive a la carte menu, contains helpful illustrations of dishes and tent cards offer diners signature dishes, divided into spicy and non-spicy. Service staff are both helpful and knowledgeable. The range of beverages is limited to soft drinks and local beer, however a seasonal specialty of roasted coconut juice is a perfect accompaniment. Menu favourites range from classic pork belly, crisp juicy and attractively presented with tasty fried garlic, to a traditional crab yellow curry with generous chunks of crab and just the right level of spice. Also recommended is sweet prawns with house made shrimp paste and crunchy sator. Desserts whilst simple are well worth leaving room for. The freshly made roti with caramelised fresh coconut and coconut ice cream is a winner. Should you wish authentic southern Thai food, well executed in a friendly environment, Yoong Khao Hom will not disappoint.
