Review

Gran Monte is the best-known family-run vineyard in Thailand. Winemaker Nikki Lohitnavy returned from overseas to create a stellar range of locally produced wines. VinCotto sits within the rolling vineyard landscape, affording diners an opportunity to taste these quality wines, with Italian and French classic comfort dishes. There is indoor seating and an outdoor terrace, the latter pet friendly. The menu begins with salads including a simply assembled buratta and tomato, plus more elaborate appetizers such as pan-seared foie gras, accompanied with grapes and verjus. Follow with fresh pasta, from traditional carbonara to adventurous squid ink with seafood. Alternatively, consider one of the stylish main courses, many of the recipes originating from family recipes. This is where VinCotto truly excels, generous veal shanks in a rich red wine sauce or a rustic country classic of coq au vin, both executed with skill and care, packed with flavour and a perfect match for Gran Monte reds. The extensive range of wines can be purchased at a chic boutique, a short walk from the restaurant and includes award winning whites and reds from multiple grape varieties plus a stunning sparkling offer. Desserts include a crispy creme brulee, apple crumble and the house recommendation cheese board, partnered with a glass of Orient Syrah, a perfect match.
