The Tram is named for the cars carrying stones and gems from African mines, and located at the Gems Mining Resort on the outskirts of Pattaya offering a wide selection of traditional western menu items as well as a delicious sampling of Thai and African inspired dishes. Head chef Ekarat Boonsri, has produced an offering which is unique in Pattaya. À la carte items, including fresh seafood from the Gulf of Siam, steaks and lamb chops, plus a set menu offering Thai omelette with crab, organic chicken jungle curry with coconut shell, stir fried squid with black ink sauce and South African lamb kebab among others. Dishes maximise ingredients locally sourced from the surrounding Chonburi provinces, all artistically presented. The resort kitchen prepares its own pastries and desserts and is particularly known for its macarons which many claim to be the best in Pattaya. The restaurant is spacious and creatively decorated to reflect the African theme of the resort with service every bit as good as the food. The Tram offers live entertainment on some nights and a variety of very attractive wine and beer specials. The convenient location, just after the toll gate entering Pattaya, with a large secure parking area for guests is added attraction given Pattaya’s notorious congestion.
