Sryth Bodi recently appeared on the Chiang Mai dining map uniquely offering one dish only, the renowned and revered Singaporean Hainanese chicken rice. Here acknowledging its humble origins in South China while celebrating its popularity as the national dish of Singapore. The skilland complexity involved in both preparing and serving this singular dish and making it your only offering is a bold decision. However, the quality of the end-product is exceptionally good. There are two options within the chicken rice set, either the traditional steamed or the equally popular roasted. While awaiting arrival one may opt for a crunchy fried pork wanton to pass the time. There is a sufficient range of iced and hot teas, coffees and soft drinks. When your order arrives it is elegantly presented on a classically traditional wooden tray, featuring dainty individual crockery for each element. First a juicy and tender chicken, generous in portion size and perfectly executed, alongside on point cooked rice and slices of cucumber. Finally, condiments of delicately chopped spring onions, fresh chillis, ginger and Hainanese nam jim. A memorable dish at a very friendly price. Desserts include Thai grass jelly with coconut ice cream and a piquant sweet and sour duo of green mango sorbet with mango sticky rice ice cream.
Following lunch ask for the housemade Thai shortbread to take home.
