At the very end of beautiful Khao Tao village, close to the headland, Som’s Table inhabits a characterful extended house looking over a petite lawn leading to a sandy beach, which diners need to traverse before choosing between indoor or outdoor dining. The menu is an ever-changing feast, depending on weather conditions. If it has been windy and rough at sea expect more meat-based mains, if calmer waters prevail expect more freshly caught local fish and seafood. Camembert with orange on honey crostini is a light and tasty starter or for something more filling, try deep-fried gnocchi in alfredo cream with garlic and pepper prawns. For main course, a choice of pasta in white wine sauce with prawns and generous shavings of Parmesan, or a sensory treat of squid topped with salmon roe. For meat lovers, flank steak grilled to your preference with french fries is a worthy alternative. House specialties include wild-caught giant trevally crudo and grilled fish collar with pici. The short dessert menu includes fluffy lemon cake with espresso brandy cream, and espresso amaretto cream; both rich and packed with citrusy tones. The drinks list is small but has enough choice for diners to enjoy an accompanying bottle of wine or a cocktail.
