Prod ("favourite” in Thai) located in North Pattaya, focusses on original seafood and Thai cuisine, carefully presented and appealing to the eye and tastebuds alike. Their claim is to engage with local ingredients and Thai cultural heritage through resourceful passion. The barn-style restaurant is modern & stylish supported by an able staff. Two large dry-aged glass refrigeration cabinets are on display with large fish-fillets in process. The menu consciously avoids common Thai curries, clearly focussing on innovation but within the bounds of traditional Thai cuisine – and this works. Spicy dishes dominate appetiser selections, such as clam shell and pomelo salad. Balance this with less spicy, but tasty, gentle and subtle dishes such as crab meat sautéed with spring onions. Or try grilled river prawns served with delicate curried pumpkin sauce, allowing both the seafood and charcoal tastes to surface. Angus beef satay is served with extra sweet traditional peanut or ajaad (clear cucumber relish) sauces. While plakapong (seabass) fillet is perfectly presented – fried in fish sauce, crispy skinned and tender inside – a simple classic dish done just right – as is pad-Thai with prawns. The dessert menu is short - coconut ice cream with salted egg crumble stands out.
