Prego by the Beach set on a small island near the southeast corner of Phuket, is the seafront Italian bistro at the Westin Siray Bay Resort. The island is full of interest for those who want to explore the many fishing villages and a sea gypsy community. Here you can enjoy Italian comfort cuisine prepared by head chef Miew, fresh from many years in Bangkok’s premier Italian eateries. Her featured dish is savoury black ink fettuccine pasta served with succulent blue swimmer crab meat delivered daily by the local fishermen and enhanced with white wine, garlic, candy tomato, red chili and topped with fresh parsley. Begin with fresh local sautéed clams and mussels in extra virgin olive oil or crispy fried calamari served with marinara sauce and lemon aioli. Followed by fresh black quinoa and with grilled tiger prawn salad enhanced with avocado, red onion, cucumber and candy tomatoes. The common thread is rich flavour and a sense of comfort dining. From a stunning grilled local seafood platter to slow- cooked lamb shank and a full list of Italian pizzas, traditional pastas and tasty risottos, portions are generous and satisfying. Classic cocktails are offered with a balanced wine list.
