Prego is where casual cafe vibes meet authentic homemade Italian cuisine. Since launching in Koh Samui 22 years ago by Chef Marco Boscaini, Prego has expanded to Amari hotels across Pattaya, Phuket and Bangkok. The menu covers classic Italian dishes, including homemade pastas, risottos, salads and pizzas. A popular choice is risotto alla montanara, recognised as one of the world’s best risottos by the Gallo Guide. All dishes are served in generous portions, so take care when ordering. Assorted Italian cold cuts are also available. The starter menu is extensive, offering tuna tartare with yellow pepper purée, fresh burrata on marinated tomatoes, slow-cooked beef meatballs with Parma ham, mortadella and arrabbiata sauce. Crumbed and crispy fried calamari with tuna mayonnaise is highly recommended. For mains, try grilled slipper lobster, garlic chili pesto linguine with Parmesan chips, grilled seafood platter, or ossobuco alla milanese, a traditional dish of braised veal shank slow-cooked to perfection and served with saffron risotto. Roasted chicken roulade, filled with spinach and smoked scamorza cheese, accompanied by mustard potato purée, is another standout. For dessert, enjoy classic tiramisu with marcolua, a secret recipe by the chef. The wine list is extensive and heavily Italian, available by the glass or bottle.
