This elegantly appointed dining room is within the renowned boutique hotel, 137 Pillars House; a collection of unique Lanna style villas. Making one's way for dinner is a gentle pre-amble through the meticulously manicured gardens, enjoying an ambience of tranquil calm. Before dining take an aperitif in Jack Bain's bar, where classic cocktails mix with bespoke local signatures. Palette's menu is a combination of international and Thai classics, with some lighter bites. Begin with a signature spicy avocado, the fruit lightly tossed in sweet and sour chili vinaigrette and artfully topped with potato hay, adding a little welcome texture. Alternatively choose a fragrant tom ka gai. For main courses, there are multiple recommendations, including a tempting twice cooked wagyu beef cheek dish of Thai home comfort, pad ka prao. There is a wide choice of cuisines on offer, including middle-eastern lemon roasted chicken sumac. Pastas are also available from the classic bolognaise to pasta of your choice with succulent prawns in a tomato and vodka cream sauce. Complete the gastronomic experience with a local coconut platter of ice cream and cashew nuts, served in the shell. The wine list is short and sufficient with two whites and reds by the glass.
The afternoon tea at137 Pillars is deservedly legendary; for a special treat, upgrade with bubbly.
