North sits within the grounds of the Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai. An open air, covered pavilion with the vista of paddy fields is the diner focus, but once seated an impressively large open-fire grill is where the action takes place. In addition to a la carte, there is a tempting set menu featuring nutritious and balanced choices for diners, regardless of dietary or lifestyle preferences. Begin with classic caesar or a spicy Thai twisted beef tartare, both executed with culinary talent. Lobster escabeche with micro leaves, and a stellar raspberry dressing is an excellent start. Moving to the mains, there is a super selection of steaks. Whether you opt for a tenderloin, ribeye, striploin or a 1kg T bone for sharing, they will be served up perfectly on point, cooked as you wish, with a side order of golden crisped roast potatoes and creamed spinach or whatever vegetable accompaniment you select. Sauces are a good way to measure kitchen talent and a bearnaise or red wine jus, exceeds expectations. Complete your experience with a signature chocolate on fire, crunchy hazelnut-caramel chocolate cake with orange marmalade, chocolate ice cream and the on-fire part, a smidgeon of Grand Marnier. A fair range of wines by glass and bottle are on offer.
