Review

New Bukhara has been delighting patrons for over two decades with vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisine from the Punjab region of northern India. Kitchen crew and service team know their trades well and while décor here is a tad understated the food is anything but. New Bukhara has a decent drinks list that includes zesty cocktails, beers, spirits and fresh fruit juices. Check out the chef's special Thali offerings for an individual meal, available at both lunch and dinner. However sharing works too.

Start with light chicken paneer kathi rolls and a serving of tangy tomato shorba, freshly squeezed tomatoes with ground spices, to spur the appetite. Move on to mains and from the non-vegetarian curry selection and try signature mutton rogan josh, which consists of succulent chunks of mutton braised in a fabulously rich sauce flavoured with garlic, ginger and cardamom. Pair it with a dish of oven-hot aromatic aloo tandoori, potatoes generously stuffed with lentils and chickpeas, and a super fragrant vegetable biryani Punjabi style for a very satisfying meal. A selection of Indian-Chinese fusion dishes is also offered and includes a delightfully crispy fish manchurian. For dessert end on a simple sweet note with kulfi, traditional un-churned Indian ice cream.

Signature party dishes such as Raan Alishaan, slow-cooked whole leg of lamb, must be pre-ordered.
