The stylish interiors of Moreganic, within the Away Chiang Mai Thapae Resort hotel, just one of two hotels in Thailand affiliated with the global Veggie Hotel group, exudes a mix of colonial style and Lanna culture. Staff are helpful in explaining menu items and bring dishes to the table in a Thai manner ready as the chef prepares them and not necessarily in the order one might expect.

There are some real winners on the menu, pumpkin soup, sumptuously creamy and full-bodied, and pineapple fried rice, overflowing with curried rice and tasty chopped vegetables and adorned with sliced tomato and cucumber, being the main pick. Plates are typically generous and thoughtfully presented. Khao soi vegan chicken puts more vegan chicken in the dish than it is fair to expect but the noodles and curried soup carry the dish. Vegetable spring rolls have a clean crispy crunch to the bite and grilled vegetable quesadillas are not over-stuffed and the tortilla is warm and pleasant. Four desserts are on the menu with the chocolate cake, coconut ice-cream presented with a few sprinkled nuts and a swirl of caramel, being the pick.

Wines are not offered but guests may bring their own bottles.
