Teppanyaki, with its rich history of cooking techniques, emphasises the preparation and serving of food as an art form. And it's quite the performance at Hyatt Regency's Mizu restaurant, with Chef Bang skillfully conjuring up the dishes amidst dramatic flames on an open teppan (iron plate). Seated at close quarters, the interactive entertainment of this teppanyaki grill cannot be overstated. Sophisticated wood and grey upholstered setting, adds to the multi sensory experience. The restaurant specializes in a range of set menus in the evening, so diners can sit back and enjoy the unfolding culinary show. Lunch menus present a wider range of la carte options including uber fresh sushi and sashimi delights. Both the Patong and Kamala sets have a beautifully designed balance of tastes and textures. Starter highlights include the sumptuous Phuket octopus, Hokkaido scallop and salmon merou en papillote, served with edamame, mushroom and wakame seaweed. Mains include premium grade Angus tenderloin served with whipped garlic mash, yuzu ponzu and spicy bean paste sauce accompanied by a healthy portion of a tom yum flavoured crab fried rice and a miso soup. Caramelised pineapple & coconut ice cream is served with a delicate madeleine. A selected range of quality sake, the drink of the Shinto gods, completes a truly exquisite teppanyaki dining adventure.
With Tajima wagyu on offer, the only decision one has to make is striploin or tenderloin?
