Nestled at the end of a small soi at the rear of the Emporium shopping mall, this chic eatery offers authentic French brasserie cuisine in a charming setting. Comfortable sofas and elegant tableware, transport one to a tranquil avenue off the Champs-Elysees. A thoughtful wine list, is French heavy, but lists others from European countries; listed by grape, with suggested dish pairings, for an interesting read. A basket of crunchy, fresh sourdough with oodles of butter, is a perfect beginning. Follow with a classic foie gras, pan-seared with wild strawberry confit and jasmine tea gelee for an innovative accompaniment. Escargots in garlic and parsley butter or a creamy wild mushroom vol au vent continue the theme, rustic, yes, but executed with finesse and elegantly presented. For those missing their favourite Parisian bistro, choose the pan-grilled veal liver, memories will come flooding back. Main courses of moules or razor clams, also delight, however the house signature of duck breast Rossini is a show stopper. Steak frites of black angus ribeye with French fries is also unforgettable. Request a side order of mashed potatoes, truly ethereally fluffy. Desserts include the traditional, tarte tatin and an uber rich choux St Honore, however the Valrhona chocolate trio with a small espresso, perfectly sums up Maison Bleue.
Afternoon tea is a must; mille-feuilles, say no more
