Luna Lanai Beach restaurant is located beachside of the Sheraton Hua Hin Resort and Spa's sprawling property, almost equidistant between Hua Hin and Cha am. As the name says it's on the beach, just above the high tide mark and the designers have rightfully resisted the temptation to enclose the dining area so there is a covered seating area as well as an open-air terrace, taking advantage of the sea breezes that waft along the shoreline. The menu offers a broad selection of dishes from Thai favourites to pasta dishes and grilled meats and fresh seafood cooked in a variety of styles with accompanying side dishes. Begin with, yam talay, a seafood salad with mushrooms, onions and tomatoes, a spicy choice. To follow, the chef recommends gang poo bai cha kham, a delightful mud crab curry in coconut milk. For meat lovers, Australian lamb chops are particularly tender and succulent, complemented by a tangy gravy and a selection of vegetables. The dessert menu offers a small traditional range with mango sticky rice, an easy choice. The wine list is concise, well-priced and there is a choice of cocktails, local beers or fresh juices.
