Review

A red-carpet welcome awaits, tucked away in a sub soi of Hua Hin and set in a tastefully converted pool villa with both covered and open-air tables on the veranda or by the pool. A delightfully tranquil location with a warm, familiar feel to it, as if one was having dinner at a friend's house. Relatively new, this splendid restaurant is a great addition to dining in Hua Hin. Chef Vanessa Humbert learnt her craft from her mother back home in Spain and cooks from the heart, not from a recipe book. With most of the stellar ingredients sourced from Spain, awards have already been won with a plaque from the Spanish Ambassador for authenticity, proudly on display. More awards will undoubtedly follow. The menu ranges from embutidos, quesos, pintxos, croquetas, and tapas, to maricos, carnes and arroces, or shellfish, meats and paella. Begin with joselito iberico ham, the best in the world or boquerones, toast with white anchovies brimming over with flavour. Gambas al ajillo, prawns with garlic and chili is served with bread to soak up the delectable sauce of butter and olive oil. Finish with a crema Catalana for a light and satisfying dessert. The wine list is exclusively Spanish to further enhance the dining experience.
