Decorated in a warm and contemporary Italian style with exposed brick walls and wooden tables, La Bottega di Luca offers indoor and outdoor seating. Under recently arrived chef Marco Avesani, menus are prepared using fresh, seasonal ingredients producing bold flavours in generous portions. Fassona beef tartare, with shallots, diy on mustard, capers, parsley and crisped sourdough, ticks the boxes for a great tartare, the use of tender, lean fassona piedmontese beef makes it exemplary. Also from the antipasti selection, pork belly salad, with shaved vegetables, rocket, Sicilian anchovies and mustard vinaigrette, presents a wonderful contrast of textures and tastes. Japanese seabream carpaccio, yellow cherry tomato gazpacho, marinated cucumber, dill delights with fresh aromas of the sea and garden. Pasta dishes are noteworthy, with tortelli filled with baccala mantecato (creamed cod), tossed with squid ragout, tomato confit and tarragon a standout. Braciola di cinta senese, Italian pork chops, arrives at table perfectly grilled and rested. The tiramisu is expertly made with layers of espresso-soaked ladyfingers, mascarpone cream and cocoa powder. The result is ethereally light and creamy, with a good balance of flavours. The restaurant's wide and knowledgably curated selection of Italian wines includes Italian sparkling wines along with vintage French champagnes, and a long list of Italian reds and whites, by the glass and bottle.
