Ksushi is the brainchild of Chefs Phot and Wichanya, a cosy sushi and sashimi space serving up authentic Japanese dishes of premium air-flown ingredients at reasonable prices. The rustically furnished petite interior consists of a four-seater sushi counter and several lower-level tables, with a quaint outside terrace offering additional seating. The menu is comprehensive, offering diners lots of budget options. Begin with a sashimi platter for sharing, one of two sizes, with a selection of delicately and skillfully glistening sliced fish, including tuna, salmon, hamachi and others depending on latest arrivals. The fish is of incredible quality, and the portions generous. Nigiri is a standout with multiple choices and can also be served as sashimi, the prawn and the o-toro strongly recommended.
Frequently changing special appetisers are worth exploring, an almost transparent scallop tartare and a gindara miso, or black cod, truly memorable. The former absolutely melts in the mouth, whilst the latter, slivers of gently piquant flesh, showcases the culinary expertise here. Grilled and dried stingray fin, was all one could wish for, crunchy and flavourful. The dessert offering is, as in most quality Japanese restaurants, a choice of one perfectly executed, elegantly rich Hokkaido cheesecake. Beverages include a decent range of Japanese beers, soft drinks, sakes and umeshu.
When making a booking do ask about the uni set. If available, choose it.
