There are several cafes in Bangkok swarmed by queuing Instagrammers and foodies. The low-key but charming Korner Café and Restaurant offers a respite to all of that fuss and, instead, gives us a hidden gem local coffee spot. With a neighbourly tranquil feel, Korner serves up freshly-prepared international comfort food to be enjoyed any time of day.

It might be small, but the food is excellent. The cheesy spinach with nachos for dipping make an indulgent afternoon snack, whilst the warm bowl of wagyu meatballs is a diner favourite, perfect for a rainy afternoon or evening. Mushroom risotto is prepared with the perfect balance of velvet and al dente, it's an immensely satisfying dish for anyone. Treat yourself to a more exciting lunch than your usual sandwich and choose tacos di lengua, mini corn tortillas topped with glistening beef tongue with all the zest and extra creaminess from the accompanying sauces.

The food marries well with Korner's thirst-quenching repertoire, offering multiple teas, coffees and other coffee shop creations. Classic Thai tea is an excellent partner for the comforting theme of the food. Nutella latte is decadent and soul-fulfilling and will bring out everyone's inner child. Take time to relax and tuck in at Korner Café, the peaceful friendly set-up is rather rare so central in the city.
