Opened this year, Hninn focuses on contemporary brunch and reimagined Burmese comfort dishes. The name carries deep significance, reflecting the owner’s vision to share authentic Burmese flavours to all who visit. The airy space, centred around a large olive tree hums with a quiet, cosy energy. Diced tofu fries are crisp on the outside and tender within, dusted with paprika seasoning and paired with sweet dipping sauce for balance. Nan gyi thoke dumplings, takes its cue from a beloved Mandalay street classic: thick rice noodles wrapped around a chicken filling coated in curry sauce, offering warmth, spice and creaminess. Toasted chickpea flour, sliced onions, chillies and crisp noodles add layers of aroma and texture. The menu continues with tableside service for laphet thoke, where tea-leaf paste is tossed with nuts, rocket, dried shrimps and quail egg, creating a blend of earthy, nutty and gently bitter notes. Coconut noodle ramen, inspired by ohn nò khao swè, is light and smooth with a light and creamy coconut broth impressing mild, comforting flavours, while red onions, crisp noodles and chilli provide texture and contrast. Dessert features soft bread crowned with coconut milk curdles and a light dusting of icing sugar, while panna cotta is mildly sweet, contrasted by the bright freshness of berries. Beverages span alcoholic cocktails and teas and fresh juices.
Chicken liver pâté diced, layered with melon and served alongside sourdough is unmissable.
