Expect homespun Tuscan cuisine founded on tradition and authentic flavours; reservations are essential. Start with imported cold cuts, the eye-catching list includes organic farm selections traditional fennel salami and capocollo of Tuscan grey pork. Or go for a lighter option with black kale salad, tossed in a refreshing, vinegar-based dressing, and served with cherry tomatoes, green olives and spelt, adding a sweet, nutty chewiness. You cannot go wrong with pasta at Giglio, opt for signature pici with sausage and porcini mushroom ragu. Hand-rolled and prepared al dente, it holds the flavourful sauce together beautifully. From the sea, spinach stuffed squid slow-cooked in juicy sweet tomato sauce makes a soul-soothing transition to a hearty main. The fiorentina steak is a must-try. Alternatively, if with a group of friends, enjoy a perfectly executed, dry-aged T-bone with a creamy side of fennel gratin. While classic tiramisu is popular, the dessert winner is baked panna cotta, rich, silky-smooth and well partnered by a properly bitter-sweet caramel sauce.
