From boisterous, weekend nights to wholesome Sunday brunches, the lively Gigi Dining Hall & Bar does it all. The artsy decor has a quirky-yet-chic complexity, drawing in a fun-loving crowd. The food, hearty yet fun, consistently delights and satisfies. The antipasti menu is broad, but the shareable Gigi meatballs, served in a pan covered with pizza bread, a crowd pleaser. Pizzette (mini pizza) make great starters, made with soft, chewy dough and authentic Italian ingredients. Choose from various pasta classics such as the ever-comforting carbonara or something different like the lemon and burrata spaghetti with optional anchovies. The linguine 'holy vongole' is a best seller. A simple combination of pasta and clams, but hard to get right. Here, they've hit the bullseye with just the right amount of richly flavoured white wine sauce, generously coating but not drenching the pasta and finished with a kick of chilli. Veal cheeks with polenta a recommended main, garnished with mango cubes wonderfully cutting through the creaminess of the Parmesan-infused polenta. Round off the meal with a generous bowl of signature Gigi Banoffll e - a kind of cross between a chocolate souffle and a banoffee pie. Totally scrumptious. The drinks menu is fun and extensive with a selection of playfully named house cocktails to help turn up the volume.
This fun cantina fills up quickly; reservations needed, particularly at weekends.
