Review

Coda is at the Sindhorn building, Wireless Road. Owner and chef Supasit “Tap” Kokpol and partner Poontharika Poopatanapong opened this modern two-storey homage to Thai cuisine in 2021. Taking classic Thai flavour profiles, chef Tap enhances and elevates, using modern techniques and subtle touches, presenting dishes with defined flavour profiles. Coda’s eight-course tasting menu begins with a trio of delicious bites, including an ethereally light and fluffy crab mousse with radicchio, cod with aromatic herbs, lime and basil and a stand-out coconut creation topped with Kaluga caviar. Then follows abalone broth with basil-scented mountain rice then tom yum bathed tiger prawn. A surprise course of freshly baked bun, inspired by Chinatown, stuffed with creamy smoked corn is delightful. Next up is som tum gai yang, a modern take with amaebi, papaya and carrot. Then, the centrepiece Rayong duck surrounded by a stylish krapow sauce. Australian wagyu is available as an add-on. Consider chef Tap’s house specialties, also available as supplement courses, of curry crab chawanmushi and Szechuan cold pasta with akami. The pre-dessert of refreshing fruits and a clever Thai tea precedes a unique khao tom ped, comfortingly familiar flavours, refined and satisfying to end your experience.
