Review

Chef Pom Chinese Cuisine by Todd offers classically presented dishes nestling comfortably beside newer takes and what might be the world's prettiest dim sum. The interior is pleasant and cozy as a 19th century Shanghai salon, featuring the requisite deep red upholstery, black wood, gold accents and dragon-bedecked fabric billowing from the ceiling, among other traditional patterns. The brainchild of Tod Bhirombakdi, a passionate foodie, and chef Porn Thanarak Chuta, a renowned expert in Chinese culinary arts. The concept is contemporary Chinese cuisine inspired by Cantonese, Sichuan and Shanghainese heritage recipes. Begin with signature crispy fried charcoal taro with foie gras and hoi sin sauce, deliciously umami. The Chinese love of pork belly shines through on the menu, highly recommended is golden-yellow belly crispy outside and soft inside with that perfect layering of meat and fat and dipped in inky black sauce. Scallops are perfectly executed with piquant shrimp eggs, foie gras dumplings super luscious, and fried rice, is light and tasty and perfectly balanced. Service is friendly, efficient and serene. Enjoy a dessert finale with a number of tempting options including memorable uber textural mashed taro with coconut sticky rice and gingko nuts. Drinks include a very concise offering of wine, local beers and teas.
