Carrots is a good example of the new "vegan fast casual" cafe/bistro movement, in vogue in the malls of the USA, now to be found in Bangkok. The decor is fun and contemporary and the seating seriously comfortable. The menu caters to tastes from many world cuisines with organic plant-based ingredients the common denominator. Cute little "spicy" signs signal dishes with extra bite and two-faced dumplings packs a tasty punch stuffed with mashed black beans, mushroom and spinach and two sauces on the side, sesame soy and a very spicy chili sauce. Pick of the salads is the rainbow coleslaw salad with sauteed tofu, fried banana blossom, spring onions, bean sprouts and zesty peanut sauce. A meal in itself is the meaty mushroom pita pocket with two generous super-fresh pocket halves packed with a creamy coleslaw and drippingly delicious mushroom chunks and crispy sweet potato fries plus harissa and tzatziki sauces. Equally good are the bite sized sliders with awesome filling free of processed meat substitutes. The team at Carrots are happy to explain anything from the extensive menu (including 9 pizzas) and chef Kai, on a culinary journey starting in Myanmar, will pull herself away from her 4-person kitchen to answer questions and give recommendations. Coffees, smoothies, milkshakes plus a variety of alcoholic and other drinks are available.
The wide range of tempting vegan and gluten-free brownies are an essential component of a visit, heavenly.
