Review

Tucked behind iconic neo-classical buildings on Ratchadamnoen Avenue is an old house in the Italian Renaissance style typical of the early 1900's in Bangkok. Formerly housing the Boonyaravej family's traditional herbal medicine business, now transformed into a cosy Thai restaurant by a fifth generation descendent, Dolchai Boonyaratavej, who designed the tropical chic interior. The menu highlights herbs and spices reflecting the family's traditional herbal remedies which also informs the decor. The result is an extensive menu that will appeal to the health-conscious.

The drinks list includes Ya Hom signatures, with aromatic medicinal powder infusions and herbal juices, with the popular choice being tom yum iced tea. Alcoholic drinks are limited to a selection of three cocktails.

Drawing upon the family's herbalist and culinary history, the menu offers dishes not found in other Thai restaurants, such as fried mushrooms with herbal sauce or the unusual flower wraps. Touted as the restaurant's signature dishes are sweet and sour spare rib soup, and pork curry seasoned with fermented shrimp paste chili sauce, cinnamon stewed pork belly, salted fish in dipping sauce with assorted vegetables and red curry with seabass and chaplu leaves. A place to enjoy a good meal with friends. The private room upstairs is perfect for small meetings or family get togethers.
