What To Eat This Week: Aksorn, Ginger Farm, Krua Khun Mae And More

Don't know what to order for lunch or dinner today? How about a feast from any one of these five authentic Thai restaurants

The government’s latest dine-in ban, which began suddenly on June 28, has been devastating news for many local restaurant owners who only just reopened for dine-in a few weeks prior. In the past two years, the F&B industry has suffered massive from the pandemic, with unexpected shutdowns leaving restaurants unsupported and left to fend for themselves. Indeed, even some of the most established names in the dining scene have, as a result, decided to shut down for good.

Here at Koktail, we encourage you to support local restaurants and keep them alive by ordering directly from the shops or through zero or low commission delivery services. This is to ensure that profits go to the store owners when they need it most. In addition, we will also be recommending our favourites restaurants here weekly in "What To Eat This Week" to remind or introduce you to quality restaurants that may be struggling to get under your radar.

Aksorn

Enjoy the carefully crafted Thai recipes of Aksorn in the comforts of your home. A must-try on the menu is Namprik Num & Kab Moo, a beloved Northern Thai dish. It consists of crunchy, bite-sized pork crackling served alongside classic Thai green chilli dip. If you are looking for a fun and addictive appetizer whilst you WFH, this won't disappoint.

Ginger Farm

Ginger Farm is the spot for organic meals sustainably sourced from local producers. Famous for its yum (AKA Thai salads), we recommend trying the spicy brown rice noodle salad with fried mackerel. The fresh herbs and vegetables pair perfectly with the salty mackerel and savory sauce.

Krua Khun Mae

One of my all-time favourite restaurants, Krua Khun Mae welcomes you with its signature home-cooked, stir-fried rice noodles with prawns. This restaurant's bestselling dish is perfectly seasoned with classic Thai spices and packed with rich shrimp paste aroma. Top it off with some freshwater mimosas and buttery shrimp, and you've got a simple dish that begs you to come back for more.
