Introducing a new six-part series that goes into the daily lives of Thai chefs as they prepare food for their guests

Thailand’s Favourite Restaurants, in collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), introduces “Culinary Gems of Thailand”, a new six-part series that ventures into the daily lives of some of Thailand’s most acclaimed chefs as they prepare food for their guests, from market to table.

In this episode, Nigel and Natalie visit Baan Nual, a cosy Thai dining hot spot, pocketed in the Sam Sen area of Bangkok. This diner occupies a traditional Thai wooden house, restyled into a memorable eatery, capturing sibling-owners Tommy and Yu’s love for delicious food and the antique charms of Thai culture. Yu and Tommy’s deep affection for their mother comes through loud and clear in this video as Tommy shows our hosts around the bustling food market to buy fresh, locally-sourced products to bring back to the kitchen. Nigel lends a helping hand to fry the fresh garlic as chef Yu cooks the rest of the meal. Once done, it’s time to sit down to a spread of mouth-watering wok-fried food.

Baan Nual is building quite the reputation in the home-cooked Thai dining scene, so if you’re coming from overseas to enjoy this unique experience, our suggestion is to book a table before your flight!
