Food Film Director & Food Photographer
Industry : Lifestyle
A fishing village, a family recipe or a market stall can reveal as much about Thailand as any celebrated restaurant. That broader view of food culture sits at the heart of Kidsadakon “Tom” Sukmool’s work as a food film director, photographer and storyteller.
Through Tom Travelogue, he travels across the country documenting regional ingredients, traditional cooking and the communities that sustain them. His films, photographs and writing move between farming communities, fishing villages, markets and small kitchens, tracing the connections between food, landscape, history and everyday life. Local producers and recipes passed through generations become subjects in their own right rather than background to the finished dish.
Tom’s interest in culinary heritage also shapes his role as Deputy President and Chair of Creative Content for the Thailand Gastronomy Network, supporting work around food tourism, local communities and regional culture.
International recognition has followed. In 2024, Discover the Magic of Thai Flavours won the Feeding the Planet category at the Food Film Awards organised by the International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism, while Tom was shortlisted for the World Food Photography Awards 2025. Yet his most compelling subject remains Thailand itself – seen through the people whose knowledge keeps its extraordinary culinary diversity alive.
