The roof top at Centara at Central World has long been known as one of the best places in Central Bangkok to observe the vista below. Uno Mas, one more in Spanish, marries that killer view (on the 54th floor) with high-quality Spanish cuisine, and with a choice of a semi-outdoor setting for the Tapas and Raw Bar section and a high-ceilinged Mediterranean blue tinged indoor area with live guitar music. Tapas take centre stage, focusing on perennial favourites – gambas al ajillo, Iberico ham, padron peppers and fried calamari. Be sure to come with a big group – sharing portions take up a big chunk of the menu and are just as good as the tapas, with a range of paellas, mixed platters of seafood from the Mediterranean as well as Galicia’s Atlantic coast, suckling pig and dinosaur portions of ribeye. For dessert, think homey Spanish classics like crema catalana, churros and arroz con leche. The Spanish wine list is excellent, featuring both ultra-classical Riojas and funky wines from innovative Catalan regions like Priorat and Montsant, a wide range of Cavas, and one of Bangkok’s finest selections of sherries by the glass. The cocktail programme is innovative rather than revolutionary, emphasising thoughtful twists on speakeasy and tiki classics.
