Thailand’s obsession with astrology runs through its culture from temples to timelines, charms to choices, and even the way people ask ChatGPT to check their fortune.
That cosmic fixation has already slipped into the jewellery world, and is now entering into the wardrobe. In its latest collection, Moo Bangkok, in collaboration with NumEiang, pulls the Chinese zodiac out of dusty almanacs and into street-ready fashion which transforms ancient astrological codes into pieces worn for energy, instinct, and attitude.
Koktail spoke with Polpat “Moo” Asavaprapha, founder of Moo Bangkok, and Kittitouch “Sam” Numpituckchaikul, third-generation CEO of the NumEiang Group, at the event about their collaboration. Celebrities attending the event also shared their thoughts on the collection and how it resonates with their personal energy.
Moo begins:
“Actually, I’ve been a fan of NumEiang for years and have wanted to collaborate with them for just as long. One day, the team got together, and I said, ‘Let’s set a date, let’s make it happen.’
Sam continues,
“We quickly realised that we both wanted to incorporate the principles of astrology into our lifestyles and designs. That’s how this project came to life.”
Moo Bangkok is known as a young, free-spirited brand, a third branch of Moo alongside Asava and ASV, focusing on unisex and youth fashion. While the collaboration may have started around a meeting, fate seemed to play its part: both founders shared with us that they were born in the Year of the Pig, a cosmic coincidence that made this partnership feel almost written in the stars.
Moo:
“It’s in my DNA. I enjoy collaborating with iconic brands, and my passion for design is deeply connected to Thai society. I see the NumEiang Calendar as another design that tells the story of Thai-Chinese culture, and it’s regarded as an iconic creation in its own right. I’m delighted to be part of it.”
The collection also includes the keychains and bracelets that are designed according to NumEiang’s astrological knowledge, and blessed through ceremonies at the shrine, following the correct rituals and auspicious practices from NumEiang. These accessories are both stylish and imbued with positive energy.
Sam:
“The project draws on knowledge of astrology, the 12 zodiac signs and the five elements of Chinese astrology, with every detail calculated according to these principles. Compatible signs and those that support each other form the foundation of our concept, which we’ve used to create a range of zodiac-inspired designs and accessories.”
The collection can be seen as a convergence of cultural relevance, personal identity, and creative storytelling. By drawing inspiration from the NumEiang, Moo Bangkok honours heritage while aims to make it accessible to a modern, style-conscious audience. This approach provides both a narrative framework and cultural resonance, transforming contemporary design into a collection that feels meaningful, timely, and visually compelling.
Koktail took the opportunity to ask celebrities how the pieces resonate with their personal energy, beliefs, and aspirations. Many shared how the zodiac-inspired motifs and astrological elements reflected aspects of their personalities or cultural identity, highlighting the meaningful connection between fashion, heritage, and individual expression.
“I think one of the items I have right now, the fire horse keychain, perfectly matches the energy of the coming year, the Fire Horse. Its element brings such positive energy.”
Next year’s zodiac, the Fire Horse, embodies passion, dynamism, innovation, and bold, transformative action. Mew intends to channel this energy into the year ahead through the item he has chosen.
Two members of ATLAS, who also share the same Chinese zodiac sign, the Goat, shared their thoughts.
Tad said,
“As a religious person, I do believe in charms and small accessories, and I truly feel they resonate with my energy.”
Muon added,
“I really like the red T-shirt — I’m wearing it because it’s fire, and I am fire. Hahaha.”
Tad reflected on how his beliefs revolve around religion and how he embraces his own culture, seeing the pieces as a meaningful extension of that. Muon, on the other hand, focused more on the design itself and how it aligns with his personal style, particularly drawn to the fiery energy represented by the collection.
“It’s a fashion that incorporates Chinese astrology, so there are many elements that help enhance our luck or support aspects related to our zodiac sign and birth year.”
Lastly, Ice, who was born in the Year of the Tiger, noted that the boldness and strength reflected in the pieces align perfectly with his zodiac traits, particularly the Sun bracelet, which will support his professional success. Similarly to Tad, he feels a connection to auspicious charm by appreciating both its design and the positive energy it represents.
